Adding a Cargo Bed Camera to tow vehicle

With the new Anderson Hitch I put in the new truck I am having a hard time seeing the hookup coupling in order to attach the 5th wheel trailer to the truck. I am exploring several different types of cameras and monitors. The first one is a review mirror that has a 10 inch wide monitor built in that straps to the front of the original mirror in the truck. It has a built in, forward facing camera that records everything out the front windshield. It also has a rear camera that can be mounted anywhere you want it and is connected to the monitor through a small 3.5mm male jack.

When a 12 volt signal is applied to the red wire of the harness, it triggers the monitor to display whatever the camera is pointed at. In this case, I am going to mount the camera just below the third brake light at the rear of the cab just above the rear windshield. Aim the camera down and train it on the hitch. This should give me a clear view of the Anderson hitch and the coupling on the pin box. Hopefully the rain will let up tomorrow and I can mount the camera and brought the wire. I also need to add a switch for the red voltage wire so I can trigger the camera on demand. More soon and pictures…
